Borland Hotel, 1965

Submitted by Robert Cunningham.

Based on the photos of the Borland Hotel in 1909, it is apparent that somewhere along the line, the hotel was enlarged quite a bit. In 1965, the building had been abandoned for quite some time and was obviously vandalized. Inside, pipes were visible - presumably steam or hot water - that ran through the building and supposedly were used to heat the building when it was used to raise chickens. It burned around 1967. The spring house was already burned down at that time, and from a pipe coming up from the floor, a slow but steady flow of water was issuing from the old spring.
