Looking for any info I can find on family of my g-gf George Washington Ramey and wife Leah Warf from Georgia. In 1860 they moved to Ripley,W.Va. Then George entered Confederate Army. In 1885 George and Leah and 11 of their 13 children went West to Kearney,Nebraska for the free land. We know nothing about them before they lived in Ripley. We don't know city or county or date of birth for George or Leah or who their parents were. Really appreciate any info on them or their ancestry.

any information regarding the David and Blanch Doll family who lived near Farmington in the 30's and 40's. My Dad, Thomas J. Doll was the next to the youngest of 7 children born to David and Blanche. Tom, Neil, Cecil, Wayne and Harold all moved to Ashtabula,Ohio in the early 50's. Arnold continued to live in Fairmont until his death in 1976. The only sister, Lucille, married John Curtis McNeil and they also moved to Ashtabula. I am trying to trace my family history back beyond the move to the Farmington area. I believe that they moved from Doddridge COunt but am not sure. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in getting as much information on anyone from the STEENROD families of Ohio and Marshall Counties, WV and Belmont, Monroe, Muskingum, Athens counties, OH. The first STEENROD to come to the Ohio Valley appears to have been Cornelius born about 1743 in NY, married Mary Elizabeth CALDWELL and then Amy ?. Cornelius had a son Daniel by his second wife Amy and probably sons Cornelius and Briggs by his first wife Mary Elizabeth CALDWELL. He died in Ohio County, VA in 1796. My ggggrandmother Mary STEENROD was born in VA or OH November 24, 1824. She died in Marshall County, WV August 31, 1892. She married Jackson SIMS. Who were her parents? What was her exact birth state? According to the 1880 census her father was born in NY and her mother in VA. The History of the Northern Panhandle mentions a Lewis STEENROD who practiced law in early Marshall County, VA. Who was he, where did he live? I have found a Lewis STEENROD in Muskingum County, OH censuses but not in Marshall or Ohio County, VA. An Ephraim STEENROD was listed in the 1840 Marshall County, VA census living near Jackson SIMS. Who was he and what became of him? He disappears from (W)VA censuses after that year. Need parents, grandparents, and siblings of Samuel Elijah Stalnaker, born about 1870 in Horner, WV, married to Rosa Belle Summers (also from Horner) on Oct. 10, 1893 in Horner. The center page of their family bible also bears the name of George W. Stalnaker, as a witness to the wedding (relation to Samuel unknown). Pastor J.S. Robinson of "M. E. I am in search of the Trippett family, particularly William Trippett who died in Tyler County in Feb. 1879. His wife was Elizabeth Danser from Middlesex Co. NJ William's father was Govey Trippett, I believe, and his mother's first name was Elizabeth. They had 8 children that I know of. They were: Waitman, Sarah Ann, Rachel, Elizabeth, Jesse Govey ( my particular interest), William A., Mary Jane and Thomas Benton. William Sr. is buried in Long Reach Cemetery in Tyler Co. I am writing about my grandfathers, father. His name is GEORGE RILEY (S) WILLIAMS, WILLIAMS is his last name. I am not quit sure why he has so many names. I found him in a 1880 census in Jackson County, when he was nine years old. But I cannot find out his mothers name or Fathers. He had married a Mary Louise Buchanon in Jackson County in 5-18-1950. Seeking 1880 census entry of Eliza KEMPLE age 70, b. Vir., widow. Lived Marshall Co. 1830's thru 1870 and died there 1897 but not there in 1880. I think she was lving with one of two married daughter, whose married names I don't know. They were Lucretia b. 1841 and Adeline (Ada) KEMPLE b. 1846; both mar. 1860-1870 but didn't marry in Marshall Co. Possibly Ohio, Wetzel or another nearby county. Please help; I've been looking for several years and need the birthplace of Eliza's mother. Eliza's eldest son Alexander KEMPLE b. 1831, was living in Wheeling, Ohio Co. with wife Emma and children in 1870 but doesn't show in the general Soundex for the 1880 census (listed only families with childrten under 10). It's unlikely but Eliza may have been living with him.

SETTLE-SILVEY Im looking for info. on Ann Elizabeth Silvey b. in Fayette Co.ca 1837 to William Robinson and Margaret Silvey according to the "Settle-Suttle Book" by Wm. Reese. Ann Eliza- beth m. James Patrick Settle on Oct. 10, 1853 in Kanawah Co. I have found no record of their marriage nor can I find any info. on William and Margaret Silvey. The Settle family moved to Kansas in 1872 after they lost 3 of their children to diphtheria. Any info. on the Silvey or Settle families would be greatly appreciated!! I have info. on the Settle family I would be glad to share.

Looking for information on John Eckard. Was in the 1890 Civil War Veterans census, living at Hendricks. Would like to know when and where he died. Also which Union CW unit he was in. He was born in Pendleton cty. and lived in Randolph before moving to Tucker with his three children. Wife Fannie apparently died in Randolph cty before 1880.

I am looking for info on John Robson born 21 May 1821 in England, died 31 Dec 1895 and his wife Mary Ellison born in England 2 Dec 1836, died 6 Feb 1914. Both are buried in the Dunlap Church Cemetery in Red House. Three of their children are James, Thomas and Grace. Grace was born 18 July 1872 in PA and died in Belle, WV. 28 April 1934. She was married to Edward Grant Steele.

I am searching for anything that might lead me to the parents of John N. DEVORE b. 26 Mar 1847 in Ohio County, VA (now WV). One of his children, Grace Lena DEVORE, b. Mar 1880 was my grandmother and she was born at Hollidays Cove which sometimes appears in Brooke County in the census. Since John was a dentist and on the road, Grace lived with a nearby family named ROBINSON for some years. Later, Grace DEVORE married Charles Lyle WRIGHT. Any help would be appreciated. Searching for the family of Joseph F. Ellis and wife Charolette Jane. Joseph was born in 1798 and had a brother Benjamin who had a twin sister Patience. Joseph & Charolette had at least 2 sons Amos H. & Jueh H. both born in W.VA. They moved to Albama around 1840. I am looking for information on ? DEMOSS who was a Revolutionary soldier who came here with the troops of Lafayette or Rochembeau. He stayed in this country and took bounty land in Va. after the war. His grandson James Demoss moved to Taylor Co. and was the first settler on Three Fork Creek. James Demoss is buried in the Payne Cemetery at Thornton. Any advice on where I might find a military roster for French soldiers in the Revolution or other source of info so that I can learn his first name would be appreciated.

Hasely 1845-1920 I am trying to find information on Frank P. Hasely. He is the son of Joseph Hasely & Margaret Ripley He was born abt 1856 in Ohio co.Wheeling WVA.He is listed in the 1860 census 5th ward city of Wheeling #11199 page 343 line 3003 (Haesley).The last time I found him was 1880 census on Ohio co city of Wheeling in a boarding house of Mary J. Metherell. He was age 23 and a nail roller.Is there a way to trace him after that? I haven't found it. His family moved to Ohio had 2 girls,then moved to Indianapolis, In and was listed in the census there in 1880 but he was not with them then or in any later census. Thank You for your help. I am interested in information on Harden SCAGGS and his wife, Mahulda Jane CHRISTIAN. Harden was born in about 1831 in KY according to 1860 census. Mahulda Jane was born in 1834 in VA. In 1860 they were counted in the 1860 census for Wayne County, WV. Their children were Isaac (1851), William Eldridge (1853), George Henry (1854), California (1856), Mary Elizabeth (11859), Allen (1860), and Bellyona (1863). Isaac married Abigail Pelfrey. Mahulda Jane Christian was the daught of Alexander and Elizabeth Christian. I would appreciate any information regarding their parents and birthplaces, where and when Harden and Mahulda Jane died, and their burial places.

GRUBBS, KNEPSHIELD--George Washington Grubbs was born in Indiana Co., PA in 1845 to Jane Graham and Jacob Grubbs. It is not known if they were married. Jane later went on to marry a Robert M. Brown and moved to Allegheny Co., PA. George married Catherine A. Knepshield. George, Catherine and their family moved between Armstrong Co. PA, Allegheny Co, PA and Calhoun Co., WV. It is believed he had family somewhere in WV. Would like to hear from anyone having any info. on the Grubbs or Knepshield name.
