Barbara Harris FITZWATER (b. abt. 1796, d. 1868 Tucker Co.), who was

POFF FAMILY
I am seeking information on my g, grandfather Robert Edward Poff.
He was born Sept. 9, 1864 and died August 9, 1918. He had a
stepfather named Mahaley Richards I don't know his mother's name
or if he had any brothers or sisters. He married Olevia Bell
Barrett July 24, 1889. They had four children Burtha born May 9,
1891, Hazel born July 31, 1892, Earl born July 3, 1894 and
Gertie born May 29, 1896. The family resided in Lincoln
County, WV. He is buried next to his wife at the Berry Hills
or French Cementary in Lincoln County, WV. He may have been
killed in a war. His wife died April 18, 1937.
I noted several Poffs in the Bluefield area. Poff is not a very
common name and I wonder where the name originated from...
and would appreciate any information which anyone
could provide.
Thanks

I am researching the RICHEY, SIRON, SYRON and WILSON family trees. I am
a descendent of Gilbert (Wilson) Siron.
Each family was in West Virginia.
I have been told that when Jane Wilson married Joseph Siron, Joseph
adopted Jane's son Gilbert.
Here's Jane's Family tree (that I know of so far)
John Wilson had a son:
William Wilson (a. 1730-1813) who married Mary. They had a son:
James Wilson who married Elizabeth Hempenstall Their son:
William Wilson (1767-?) married Mary Welch in 1805. Their girl:
Jane Wilson (? -a. 1847) Married Joseph Siron. Already had
a son Gilbert, but I do not know who the father is.

all dirived from Bible names, so I feel there

I am looking for Marie Sampson, m Douglas Fairbanks Sampson abt 1944
Washington, D. C. She moved to Bluefield abt 1945 and I am told she
worked as a waitress. Her Husband, Douglas was killed at Normandy. She
would be in her 70's. Douglas F. Sampson last name was changed from
Sansom to Sampson, by my Uncle Sylvester V. Sansom. Any information
would help and thanks for your time. I live in Elizabethton, TN.
