Smith, Zachariah T. - Company E - PC#956272, WA#878218 - alias Zachariah Fortner, alias Thomas Singers - enlisted 17 Feb 1865 Point Pleasant WV - 5’9” tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair - born about 1848 Pike Co. KY - Zachariah said in pension papers that he was born on Beech Fork in Wayne Co. VA . He also said his real name was Thomas Singers, but took the name Zachariah Smith while living with a Smith family before the Civil War. He married Annie Callaway 11 Feb 1887 and moved to Lamasco Texas. He died there 4 June 1906. She applied for pension under the name Annie Singers.
