Cook, Leonidas Hamilton -  Company I - PA#458801 - enlisted 7 Dec 1861 - 6’2”tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair -  son of William and Fanny Cook -  married Louvenia Webb d/o Martin and Fanny  17 Aug 1863 - lived Rock Castle, Wyoming Co. after enlistment for 4 years, as a young child he lived about 4 years with his father in Michigan, lived Peachtree, Raleigh Co. 1863 to 1869, 1869 and 1870 at Rock Castle, moved back to Peach Tree and lived there until 1882, he then moved to Cove Creek WV - Leonidas was captured and sent to prison, he was then paroled and sent back to Raleigh Co.  He went home before reporting back to his unit in July 1863, while he was working in his cornfield he was shot by a rebel bushwacker both eyes. His pension was denied on the grounds that he did not report back to his unit after his release  from prison and was  listed as a deserter  at the time he was shot.   A petition was signed on his behalf by many Raleigh County citizens some of whom are:  Harmon Adkins; James Mankin; Christopher Roles; J.F.Webb; Joseph Meadows; G.W. Cozart; John Turner; William Morris; - years of letters to the pension board from Leondias and others went to no avail
