Vada May Absher

FAYETTEVILLE - Vada May Hurt Absher, 81, of Route 1, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born July 4, 1920, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Fonda Tyree Hurt. Mrs. Absher was a homemaker and member of Cotton Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Edgar Absher; two brothers, Charles W. and Harvel Hurt; and two sisters, Florence Ferrell and Earnestine Hendricks. Survivors include two sons, Eugene E. Absher Jr. of Oak Hill and Lester Lee Absher of Fairmont; five daughters, Patricia Lynn Cooper of Fayetteville, Vickie Jo Absher of Springfield, Va., Kathryn Faye Foster of Mount Olive, Joyce Ann Westfall of Falls Church, Va., and Margaret Mae Hoover of Lizemores; two sisters, Lena Stewart of East Lake, Ohio, and Edith Mullins of Cleveland; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Interment will be in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
