Paul H. Armstrong
CORLISS - Paul Harry Armstrong, 75, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his home following a long illness. Mr. Armstrong was the son of the late Willis and Lona Shuck Armstrong. He was preceded in death by two sons, James Armstrong and an infant son; four sisters, Frances Mallory, Dorothy Campbell, Mae Rodgers and Mildred Rodgers; and two brothers, Melvin "Bud" Armstrong and Clarence Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Helen G. Harris Armstrong; three daughters, Carolyn Hamrick and her husband, Wayne, of Frankford, Frances Chavis and her husband, Marshall, of Hamlet, N.C., and Kathy Alderman and her husband, Marvin Jr., of Renick; a daughter-in-law, June Armstrong Castle of Welch; a son, Robert Armstrong and his wife, Jo Anne, of Corliss; a sister, Thelma White of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the Revs. Boyd Secrist and Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Corliss. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.
Lester L Armstrong
CORLISS - Lester L. Armstrong, 75, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Heartland of Rainelle nursing home following a long illness. Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Corliss, he was the son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Truma Sevy Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a member of Minnie Belle Baptist Church and a retired welder for CSX Railroad. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Cathleen; and a brother, Howard Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Janet G. McGraw Armstrong; three sons, Arnold Armstrong and his wife, Carol, of Clifton Forge, Va., and Waymen Armstrong and his wife, Wilma, and Joe Armstrong, all of Corliss; a daughter, Marsha Adkins and her husband, Mark, of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Eric Armstrong of Clifton Forge, Katherine Caldwell of Glen Wilton, Va., Rebecca Evans of Scarbro, Aaron Armstrong of Corliss, Nathan Armstrong of Hico, Joshua Armstrong of Alderson and Zachary Adkins of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Ida Burr of Rainelle, Ruth Beitz of Beckley, Zella Knapp of Sam Black, Betty Wright of Corliss and Beatrice Cutlip of Rupert. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Gene Lloyd Bennett officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.
