Edgar P. Arthur, Jr.
Edgar P. Arthur Jr., 61, of Beckley, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at his home following a short illness. Born Oct. 30, 1937, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late Edgar Price Sr. and Mary Francis Edmonds Arthur. Mr. Arthur was a heavy equipment operator who formerly worked for Pavex and G&L Coal Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a resident of Prosperity all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Lyons Arthur; and a brother, Fred Arthur. Survivors include a son, Jack Edward Arthur, and his wife, Sherri, of Beckley; a daughter, Patricia Linksweiler and her husband, Jerry, of Beckley; two sisters, Anita Buckland of Burlington, N.C., and Gail Bogar of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Bobby Arthur of Beckley; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Jenna Nicole. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
Margie Marie Arthur
BECKWITH - Margie Marie Adkins Arthur, 73, of Crow Hollow, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at her home following a long illness. Born March 15, 1928, at Cabin Creek, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Adkins and Pearl Adkins. Mrs. Arthur was a housewife and a member of Cotton Hill Baptist Church, Beckwith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lewis Arthur, on Jan. 12, 2000; and two brothers, Robert and Woody Adkins. Survivors include six sons, Lewis Arthur, Alfred Arthur, Paul Arthur and Herman Lee Arthur, all of Crow Hollow, Johnny Arthur of Oak Hill and Bernard Arthur of Fayetteville; six daughters, Geneva Arthur of Oak Hill, Wilma Mannino of Mount Pilot, N.C., Rebecca Buckland of Oak Hill, Sarah Treadway of Crow Hollow, Mary Treadway and Martha Stone of Oak Hill; two brothers, Shirley Adkins of Fayetteville and William Adkins of Lorain, Ohio; five sisters, Dolly Sutton of Ansted, Viola Cox of Fayetteville, Thelma Simms of Shady Spring, Virginia Keeney of Venice, Fla., and Anna Mae Grenet of Tucson, Ariz.; 37 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. L.T. Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins Cemetery, Crow Hollow, Beckwith.
