Annie E. Basham
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Annie English Basham, 106, formerly of Beckley, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, following a long illness. Born Aug. 13, 1892, in Glade Hill, Va., she was the daughter of the late Will and Kate English. Mrs. Basham was the oldest of 10 children. She was preceded in death by nine siblings, including Dora Snyder who resided in Beckley. Survivors include two nieces, Gladys Jones and Mary Adams, both of Beckley; two nephews, Robert Snyder of Beckley and Paul Snyder of Delaware, Ohio; five children, 26 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. today at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Grove City, Pa. Arrangements by Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, PA 16127. Verlin L. Basham
COVEL - Verlin L. Basham, 80, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in a New Richmond care center. Born June 7, 1919, at Pin Oak, he was the son of the late William Basham and Harriett Louvada Belcher Basham. Mr. Basham was an employee of the Pepsi Bottling Plant in Princeton and the West Virginia Division of Highways. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleveland and Ed Basham. Survivors include a sister, Litha Mae Lusk of New Richmond; three great-nieces, Nancy Carol Mills and her husband, Michael, of Ghent, Donna Lester of Brenton and Kathy Criego of Minnesota. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with the Rev. Arlon White officiating. Burial will follow in Bowling Cemetery, Spanishburg. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Daryel Jones, Dennis Lester, Herman Light, William Light, Ronald Lusk and Jason Mills. L. Hassie Basham
L. Hassie Hatcher Basham, 87, of Fredericksburg, Va., and White Oak, died at 9 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, in Fredricksburg following a long illness. Born Feb. 17, 1914, in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Lusanna Wills Hatcher. Mrs. Basham was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Oris Basham; two sons, Denny Jack Basham Sr. and an infant son, Larry Basham; and five brothers, Carl, Willard, Cecil, Darcy and the Rev. I.E. Hatcher. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Worley and her husband, Kenneth, of White Oak and Janice Voak and her husband, Kenneth, of Ladysmith, Va.; a brother, Lester Hatcher and his wife, Eula, of Crab Orchard; six grandchildren, Verna Schmitt of Reedville, Va., David and Richard Burkhammer, Lisa Campbell and K.C. Voak, all of Ladysmith, and Denny J. Basham Jr. of Colorado; two great-grandsons, Lee Bard of Ladysmith and Kevin Schmitt of Reedville; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Crews Cemetery, Nimitz. Frank E. Basham
Frank E. Basham, 64, of Blue Jay Six Road, Cool Ridge, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a sudden illness. Born Aug. 10, 1937, in Killarney, he was the son of the late William Basham and Daisy McCoy Basham. Mr. Basham was a retired mechanic and had lived in Cool Ridge since 1953. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Judy Pack Basham; a son, James Basham and his wife, Donna, of Blue Jay Six Road, Cool Ridge; four brothers, Junior Basham of Sacramento, Calif., Donald Basham of Morganton, N.C., Henry Basham of Daniels and Fred Basham of Cool Ridge; five sisters, Gladys Harmon of Florida, Irene Perdue of Clarksburg and Rachel Benfield, Mary Collins and Reva Cooper, all of Cool Ridge; and a grandchild, David Basham. Graveside rites and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mag Lilly Cemetery, Mitchell's Ridge, with Pastor McRae Keaton officiating. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Collins Jr., Rob Farthing, Jeff Benfield, Henry Basham, Nick Farthing and Ryan Collins. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring.
