Obituaries for the Belcher Family

Byron B. Belcher, Sr.

NORFOLK, Va. - Byron B. Belcher Sr., 78, formerly of Otsego, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at his residence following a long illness. Born March 3, 1923, in Otsego, he was the son of the late Frazier C. and Nora E. Farley Belcher. Mr. Belcher was a retired aviation electrician, serving 21 years in the U.S. Navy and 17 years as an electrician with Norfolk General Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion and Fleet Reserve Association, and was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice "Bee" Hope Lowry; three sons, Byron B. Belcher Jr. and his wife, Teri, of Queenstown, Md., Charles D. Belcher of Norfolk and Rudd L. Belcher and his wife, Phyllis, of Chesapeake, Va.; and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Belcher of Chesapeake. It's taken a while, but you're finally going home to West Virginia. Friends may call 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home, Union, and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Carmel Cemetery, where graveside rites will follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Ratliff officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements by Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home, Union.
