Betty J Blizzard

OAK HILL - Betty Jane Cobb Blizzard, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in the Boone General Hospital at Madison following a short illness. Born Nov. 27, 1924, at Concho, she was the daughter of the late John Ashley and Effie Lena McMillion Cobb. Mrs. Blizzard was a retired secretary with the West Virginia University Cooperative Extension Service with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle and was employed during World War II in the war effort with the Packard Motor Car Co. in Detroit, Mich. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Daniel Blizzard; and two brothers, James A. and Jack Cobb. Survivors include a son, George Daniel Blizzard II and wife, Sara Ann, of Madison; a granddaughter, Kathryn Blizzard Toler of Madison; a grandson, George Daniel Blizzard III of Madison; two brothers, Mike Cobb of Oak Hill and Ronnie Cobb of Bedford, Ind.; and three sisters, Barbara Sargent of Bedford, Ind., Kay Formulak of Anderson, Ind., and Karen Price of Fayetteville, N.C. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Allen Gallimore and the Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
