Sylvia 'Laurie' Boggess

Sylvia Ann "Laurie" Boggess, 62, of Naoma, went to be with the Lord with her mother by her side on Friday, April 6, 2001, at her home after a long illness. Born June 17, 1938, at Sundial, she was the daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Pettry Boggess of Naoma and the late Wood-row Wilson Boggess. Ms. Bog-gess had been a victim of polio since the age of 7. Besides her father she was preceded in death by a sister, Sadie Mae Boggess; her grandparents, Joseph and Anna Jane Pettry and Lewis and Nora Howell Boggess. Other survivors besides her mother include three sisters, Bessie Webb of Naoma, Joann Marshall of Whitesville, and Margaret Oiler of Thurman, Ohio; five brothers, Dewey and Jessie, both of Dry Creek, Kenneth, Woody Jr. and Johnny, all of Sundial; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Pettry Bottom Holiness Church, Pettry Bottom, Sundial, with the Rev. Glen Dickens officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins Cemetery, Naoma. Friends may call two hours before the service Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvia Boggess Memorial Fund, c/o Margaret Oiler, 80 Wayne Lane, Thurman, OH 45685. Arrangements by Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.
