Phyllis Ann Booth

HUNTINGTON - Phyllis Ann Athey Booth, 57, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at her residence following a short illness. Born Nov. 24, 1942, in Sandlick, she was the daughter of the late Gilmer and Theresa Candace Harper Athey. Mrs. Booth grew up in Sandlick and was a graduate of Trap Hill High School. She attended Concord College for two years and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Athey. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Dale Booth, whom she married on Dec. 23, 1961; two daughters, Lisa Carol Hale of Columbus, Ohio, and Teri Kay Booth of Mount Vernon, Ohio; a son, Jeremy Adrian Booth of Huntington; three sisters, Carol Bailey of Front Royal, Va., Kathy Burleson of Eccles and Barbara Collins of Warner Robbins, Ga.; two granddaughters, JoAnna Denae Hale and Alexis Denise Hale, both of Columbus; and her mother-in-law, Zela Geraldine Booth of Beckley. A special thank you goes to Hospice nurse Jo and to Dr. Kathy Adkins. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Ardith Bailey officiating and an eulogy by Kim Crabtree. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Dorton, Richie Henderson, Heath Bailey, Gary Lively, Dick Sellards and James Pegram. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
