Ernest C. Bowling
Ernest Clyde Bowling, 82, of 318 Lincoln St., Beckley, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 1, 2001, at 10:40 a.m. at his home following a short illness. Born Sept. 2, 1918, he was the son of the late James William Bowling and Manerva Jane Lilly Bowling. Mr. Bowling was a former co-owner and operator of Lowe Brothers Electric Company and was a faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church at Sophia. He had lived in Kingsport, Tenn., from 1988 to 1990, where he was a former member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Bowling was a member of the VFW Post No. 4469, was post quarter master from 1984 to 1985, and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Mae Pack Bowling. Survivors include his wife, Eunice Meadows Bowling; a son, David Clyde Bowling and his wife, Jackie, of Jamestown, Tenn.; a daughter, Sharon K. Bowling Daugherty and her husband, Larry, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Elbert Ray Bowling of Greenville, S.C., and Clayton E. Bowling of West Salem, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services to celebrate his life and home-going will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bible Baptist Church in Sophia, with Pastor Wayne Holder and David C. Bowling officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour before the services Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be men of the church. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Oak Hill VFW Post. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scripture Ministry of the Bible Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1433, Beckley, WV 25802. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley.
TAYLORS, S.C. - Ray Bowling, 85, of Styles Road, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001. Mr. Bowling was widower of Mary Ruth Miller Bowling. He was a native of Beckley, the son of the late James William and Minerva Jane Meadows Bowling. Mr. Bowling was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Larry Bowling of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn Ruth Barron of Taylors; a brother, Clayton Earl Bowling of Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood Mortuary with the Rev. Ken Kimbril officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Park, Duncan, S.C. Friends may call 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of the daughter, Carolyn Barron, 245 Wansley Road, Taylors, S.C. Arrangements by Wood Mortuary, Inc., Greer, S.C.
