Forrest V. Boyd

Forrest V. Boyd, 78, of 175 Jessup Lane, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, in Meadows of Dan, Va., from injuries received in a farming accident. Born Nov. 11, 1923, in Hedrick, S.D., he was the son of the late Henry and Ella Hughes Boyd. Mr. Boyd was a retired carpenter, a member of Carpenters Local 1911, Charleston, and a member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. He held an Associate Liberal Arts degree from Beckley College and served with the U.S. Army in the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Robert, David and Gordon Boyd. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Boyd; two sons, Forrest L. (Randy) Boyd and his wife, Joann of Beaver, and James Edwin Boyd and his wife, Anne, of Beckley; a grandson, Randall Boyd of Beckley; step grandchildren, Randy Moss, Alisha James and Savannah Workman; three brothers, Isaac Boyd and John Boyd, of Meadows of Dan, Va. and Ted Boyd of Bassett, Va.; and two sisters, Phyllis Cline of Hastings, Neb. and Laura Jackson of Blue Hill, Neb. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery, Mt. Tabor. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Alan Harper, Alvin Harper, Carl Daniels, Raymond Bishop, Randy Wayne Moss, and Monte Ray Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2157, Beckley, WV 25802-2157. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
