Frank C Brakefield

Frank C. Brakefield, 77, formerly of Fireco, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002. He was born Nov. 17, 1924. Mr. Brakefield attended Stoco High School. He was a World War II veteran, wounded on Christmas Eve 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge, and was recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star Citation. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Louise. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna L. Stover Brakefield, formerly of Crab Orchard; two sons, Bob of Trafford, Ala., and Mickey of Hayden, Ala.; three daughters, Virginia Meyer of North Lawrence, Ohio, Frances Hogeland of Blountsville, Ala., and Kelly Blyth of Hayden; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, James of Nectar, Ala.; and two sisters, Thelma Lloyd of Greenville, Tenn., and Shirley Bleichrodt of Canal Fulton, Ohio. Service was Jan. 11 at Old Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Palmer officiating. Burial followed in Old Philadelphia Cemetery. Arrangements by Blount County-Cleveland Funeral Home, Cleveland, Ala.
