Albert C Brewer

Albert Charles Brewer, 84, of Eccles, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, following a long illness. Born Sept. 2, 1917, in Mountain City, Tenn., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mattie Riffy Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a retired coal miner, he worked 30 years for Slab Fork Coal Company, he was a member of the Lester Church of God, and he was a lifelong member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Nellie June, Willie Handy, Virginia Mills and Mae Davis. He will be sadly missed by his survivors, which include his wife of 62 years, Georgia League Brewer; eight children, Charles (Les) Brewer and wife, Carolyn, of Chatham, Va., Ronald Keith Brewer and wife, Cynthia, of Grafton, Ohio, Glenda Kidwell and husband, Tom, of Sandy Level, Va., Albert Ray Brewer and wife, Carolyn, of Beckley, Janice (Jan) Keaton and husband, Roger, of Beaver, Kenneth Joe Brewer and wife, Shelby, of Vandalia, Ohio, Shelia Gay Lusk and companion, Curtis Sutphin, of Sandy Level, Va., and Gary Stephen Brewer and wife, Brenda, of Sandy Level, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glenn Brewer and wife, Maxine, of Forestville, Md., Larry Brewer and wife, Pam, of Pensacola, Fla., and Harry Brewer and wife, Dorothy, of Beckley; three sisters, Gay Payne of Boyds, Md., Mary Ellen and husband, Frank, of Damascus, Va., and Alice Faye of Abingdon, Va.; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Davis of Forest Hill. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roger Keaton, Jack Rogusky, Jeffrey Weeks, Shawn Radford, Keith Brewer Jr. and Barry Kidwell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gospel Chapel, Building Fund, P.O. Box 721 (C&O Dam Road), Daniels, W.Va. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
