Obituaries for the Bryant Family
Creed Bryant, 89, of Glen Morgan, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born March 10, 1911, in Wise County, Va., he was the son of the late Hatfield Bryant and Mary Estep Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a retired coal miner. He attended Victory Baptist Church, Beaver, and had been a resident of Glen Morgan most of his life. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louvene Cook Bryant. Survivors include three sons, Billy Bryant and his wife, Joyce, Gene Bryant and his wife, Edith, and Lucky Bryant, all of Roanoke, Va.; five daughters, Betty Lilly of Salem, Va., Mary Basham and her husband, Bernie, of Mabscott, Jane Whitfield and her husband, Worley, of Eagleville, Tenn., Cricket Gunter of Salem, Va., and Ann Dancy of Glen Morgan; two sisters, Betty Alexander of Melbourne, Ky., and Macie Burke of Norton, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his spouse, Carol Bryant. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Rollan Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Wayne Houck, Billy Worix, Tony Basham, Jake Worix, David Bryant and Scott Duncan. Katherine H. Bryant
OAK HILL - Katherine Haynes Bryant, 88, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home. Born May 12, 1912, at Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Elmer John and Virgie Treadway Haynes. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Bryant, on March 18, 1982. Survivors include a son, Ralph David Bryant of Oak Hill; two brothers, Carlos Haynes and James Haynes, both of Oak Hill; and two sisters, Ruth Nagy of Durham, N.C., and Margaret Criss of Beckley. Graveside rites will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Treadway Cemetery in Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will follow in Treadway Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
Gertrude M Bryant
CULLODEN - Gertrude M. Bryant, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002. Born Aug. 24, 1913, in Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Etta McMillion Wiley. Mrs. Bryant was a member of Moraine Heights Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley A. Bryant; two sons, Kenneth Bryant and Donnie Bryant; two sisters, Garnet Cook and Golden Riddle; and two brothers, James Wiley and John Wiley. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Arthur of Culloden; a son, Charles E. Bryant and his wife, Judy, of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Denise Bellomy, Sherri Cary, John Arthur, Susan Meinert, Bryan Brauns and Nicole Truitt; and nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey and Hailey Bellomy, Cody and Emily Cary, Rachel and Emma Brauns, and Reid and Natalie Meinert. Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Wallace Funeral Home, 1760 U.S. Route 60 West, Milton, with the Rev. Jim Franklin officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at Tom Lilly Cemetery, Ghent. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wallace Funeral Home, Milton.
