Mary Lou Burdette
RAINELLE - Mary Lou Burdette, 65, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, following a short illness. Born June 6, 1936, at Nutterville, she was the daughter of the late John Wilburn and Mamie Reynolds Lafferty. Mrs. Burdette was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Burdette; a brother, John Lafferty; a half sister, Violet Burdette; and two half brothers, Ray and William Lafferty. Survivors include her husband, Patsy D. Burdette of Rainelle; a son, Donald Burdette and wife, Barbara, of Rainelle; a half sister, Marie Smith of Smoot; two half brothers, Lawrence Miller of Toledo, Ohio, and Willard Lafferty of Ocala, Fla.; and two grandsons, Garrick Burdette and wife, Jennifer, of Princeton and Brandon Burdette of Rainelle. She will be buried 2 p.m. today at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville. There will be no funeral service or visitation. Arrangements by Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.
Ronald D Burdette, Sr.
ELYRIA, Ohio - Ronald D. Burdette Sr., 66, formerly of Nallen, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, 2002, at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a long illness. Born Sept. 27, 1935, in Nallen, he was the son of the late Theodore and Reva Dorsey Burdette. Mr. Burdette had been a resident of Elyria for 49 years. He was employed as a job setter at Ford Motor in Brook Park for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of North Olmsted Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and a former member of United Auto Workers, Local No. 1250. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin in West Virginia. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Burdette, in 1995. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Dawn Rider Burdette; four sons, Edward, Arield and Ronald Jr., all of Elyria, and Ted of West Virginia; three daughters, Denise Hamulak of Amherst and Diane Burdette and Ginny Sherrard, both of Elyria; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Burdette of West Virginia and Bob Burdette of Elyria; and a sister, Freda Cook of Elyria. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle. Burial will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery, Mount Nebo. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Margaret C Burdette
MOUNT HOPE - Margaret Cozette Burdette, 79, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at a local hospital following a long illness. Born June 17, 1922, in Glenville, she was the daughter of the late Effie Reed Keller. Mrs. Burdette was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and family activities. She was a member of First Advent Christian Church, Charleston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Burdette; two sons, Leonard and Michael Burdette; and a sister, Helen Brannon. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Nolley and her husband, John, of Mullens; five grandchildren, John Nolley II, Erika Nolley, Brooke Nolley, Stefani Temple and Mike Burdette; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Bailey Temple; a brother, Edward Brannon of Gambrills, Md.; and two sisters, Virginia Asbury and Billie Waugh, both of Cross Lanes. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Hope, Beckley. Friends may call two hours before service Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
Kevin James Burdette
MOUNT LOOKOUT - Kevin James Burdette, 16, of Mount Lookout went home to be with the Lord May 25, 2002, in Summersville Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born July 24, 1985, in Beckley, the son of James O. and Lynda Vickers Burdette of Mount Lookout. He was a member of the junior class at Nicholas County High School and Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Lookout. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alvin Burdette, in 1999. In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by a sister, Andrea Burdette at home; maternal grandparents, Charles and Hazel Vickers of Enon; paternal grandmother, Ruby Burdette of Summersville. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Mount Pleasant Missonary Baptist Church, Mount Lookout, with Pastor Mark Secrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Students, faculty and friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Nicholas County High School Auditorium for a memorial service which will begin at 6:30. Friends may also call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville.
