Virginia Dare Canada

PRINCETON Virginia Dare Canada, 56, of the old Bluefield Road, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at a Princeton hospital. Born March 15, 1943, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Dave Scarberry and Martha Ollie Lester Scarberry Fleshman. Mrs. Canada was a graduate of Wyoming County Vocational School of the Nursing division receiving her LPN certificate in 1984. She had worked for Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley and for Stanley Manor Retirement Center in Albemarle, N.C. Mrs. Canada was a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church on the Willowbrook Road near Princeton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Kenneth Canada; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Sue Stafford of Hotchkiss, Mona Leah Owens of Maben, and Pamela D. Mills of Princeton; a half sister, Sadie Mann of Ballard; and seven grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. today at Burns-Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton, with the Rev. Michael Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Family Cemetery on Hurricane Ridge just off Route 20, near Littlesburg. Friends called 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Directory, Princeton.
