Obituaries for the Canaday Family
OAK HILL -- Virginia "Carol" Canaday, 64, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at her home following a long illness. Born Feb. 1, 1934, at Helen, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Burliss Atkinson and Jessie Peak Atkinson. Mrs. Canaday was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Fayette and Raleigh counties. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Bill Canaday; a son, Ronnie Meadows; her stepmother, Alice Atkinson of Beckley; two sisters, Lucille Fuller and her husband, Marvin, of Conyers, Ga., and Sandi Taylor and her husband, Ron, of Sophia; six brothers, James Atkinson and his wife, Bunt, of Lebanon, Ohio, Edsel Atkinson and his wife, Sue, of Reno, Nev., Curtis Atkinson and his wife, Mary Ann, of Belleville, Mich., Bobby Atkinson of Hamptonville, N.C., Gary Atkinson and his wife, Violet, of Midway, and Dale Atkinson and his wife, Cathy, of Sophia; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaday Cemetery, Glen View. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, Beckley. Pallbearers will be David Canaday, William Stump Sr., William Stump Jr., Darrell Alberty, Chad Carden, and Tommy Worley. Ronald A. Canaday
SCARBRO - Ronald A. "Andy C." Canaday, 48, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at his residence. Born Jan. 2, 1952, in Beckley, he is the son of Gay Shrewsberry Thompson of Ocala, Fla., and the late Lewis A. Canaday. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, George W. and Hallie Cooper Canaday, and maternal grandparents, Cecil and Edna Keith Shrewberry. Other survivors include two daughters, Jeremi Canaday of Beckley and Jodi Canaday of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; two brothers, Ricky Canaday of Ocala, Fla., and Tom Canaday of Oak Hill; and a sister, Vicki Thompson of Crab Orchard. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Wickline officiating. Burial will follow in Lick Fork Hollow Family Cemetery at Mossy. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
