Edna F. Cantley

PENCE SPRINGS - Edna Faye Cantley, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness. Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Edwight, she was the daughter of the late Hut and Ona Clay Pettry. Mrs. Cantley lived most of her life in Pence Springs. She was a homemaker and attended Pence Springs Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Cantley; two sons, Dayton and Melvin Cantley; a grandson, Jeffery Scott Cantley; a granddaughter, Kathy Cantley; and two brothers, Amos and Donnie Pettry. Survivors include three sons, Robert E. Cantley Jr. of Coco, Fla., Elbert Cantley of Pence Springs and Leo Dean Cantley of Barger Springs; three daughters, Peggy Ann Hoover of Charlotte Hall, Md., Janet Buchanan of Pence Springs and Carol Wade of Wayside; a special daughter-in-law, Gail Cantley of Pence Springs; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastors Roger Persinger and James C. Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery, Pence Springs. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral parlors. Pallbearers will be Justin, Dayton Earl, Don, Ron and George Cantley, Anthony and Robert Bowyer, Jamie and Roger Erskine, Patrick Meadows and Jim Wade. Lucy Esta Cantley

Lucy Esta Arbogast Cantley, 92, of MacArthur, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the home of her daughter following a long illness. Born April 6, 1909, at Indore, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Naomi Neal Arbogast. Mrs. Cantley was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a member of Indore Methodist Church and attended Prince Church of God. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey W. Cantley; a son, Junior Cantley; a daughter, Doris Jane Cantley; four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include a son, Jack Cantley and his wife, Shirley, of Paradise, Calif.; four daughters, Joyce Meadows of Coal City, Naoma Lilly and her husband, Jim Bob, of Hinton, Carolyn Calhoun and her husband, Kenneth, of Daniels and Brenda Delp and her husband, Edsil, of Beckley; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Allen Shields, Marcus Day and Mark Schrade officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.


Noel D Cantley II

WHITESVILLE - Noel Dean Cantley II passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001. He was born in 1954 in Charleston. Mr. Cantley was a controller for BP-America in Tulsa, Okla., and a member of Central Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Pamela; two daughters, Sarah Cantley of Bethany, Okla., and Jessica Cantley of Bixby, Okla.; his parents, Noel and Mary Lou Cantley of Stoney Ridge, Ohio; and two brothers, Randy Cantley of Tiffin, Ohio, and Dale Cantley of Stoney Ridge. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Whitesville, with Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville. Arrangements by Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville.


Nathan G Cantley

Nathan Goff Cantley, 77, of Naoma, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness. Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Edwight, he was a son of the late Clounie and Martha Farley Cantley. Mr. Cantley was a retired foreman of Armco Inc., Eagle Coal and Dock Mines and Vecellio and Grogan Inc. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Ann Blaylock Cantley; two sons, Clounie Joe "C.J." Cantley of Naoma and Steve Lloyd Cantley of Taylorsville, N.C.; a sister, Merle Toney of California; two brothers, Chester Cantley of Missouri and John Floyd Cantley of Beckley; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Assembly of God Church, Sundial, with the Rev. Henry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements by Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.
