Inez M Cook Chapman
CHARLESTON - Inez M. Cook Chapman, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at the home of her daughter, following an extended illness. Mrs. Chapman was the daughter of the late Bert Sr. and Hanna Short. She attended South East Church of the Nazarene, Kanawha City, and was a member of Clear Fork Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herschel C. Cook and Russell L. Chapman; a sister, Edith Short; and granddaughter, Andrea Perry Myers. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nina E. and Charles W. Perry; four brothers, Vern Short of Clear Fork, Bert Short Jr. of Clear Fork, Kermit Short of Matheny, and Wonnie Short of Clear Fork; three sisters, Juanita Cook of Matheny, Verlee Stewart of Matheny, Erdene Snider of Oceana; a granddaughter, Lisa Anne Henry and husband, Steve W. Henry of Charleston; and one great-granddaughter, Shannon Perry Henry of Charleston. Service will be noon today at Clear Fork Advent Christian Church, Clear Fork, Wyoming County, with the Revs. Ollie Parson and Orville Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church. Arrangements by J.E. Johnson Funeral Home, Kanawha City.
JUMPING BRANCH - Mitchell Kent Chapman, 26, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001. Born June 25, 1975 in Beckley, he was the son of Jacky and Tillia Ann Burton Chapman. Mr. Chapman spent his childhood at Flat Top Lake and Shady Spring. He was a 1993 graduate of Shady Spring High School and worked for Chapman Radiant Infra Red Heating Inc. as a manufacturing representative. In his leisure time he enjoyed music and his farm at Jumping Branch. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond Edward and Thelma Chapman and his maternal grandfather, W.T. Burton. Survivors include two daughters, Carrie and Chelsea, his paternal grandmother, Della Burton of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Karen Maynard and husband, Roger of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; two brothers, Keith Chapman of Lake Monticello, Va. and Kevin Chapman and companion, Crystal Lanham of White Oak; his nieces and nephews, Joseph, Kendra, John, Kevin and Zac. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Don Pflegar officiating. Burial will follow in the One Arm Bill Lilly Cemetery at Nimitz, near Kent's farm. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Matt Cole, Matt Amick, Steve Tankersley, Anthony Stephenson, Buddy Dixon, John Kevin Chapman, Joseph Chapman and Kenny Cox. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
