Mary V Claybourn

Mary V. Claybourn, 82, of 314 Saunders Ave., Beckley, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Raleigh General Hospital. Born Dec. 3, 1919, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Pack. Mrs. Claybourn was a cook at Beckley Hospital with 46 years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Sunday school, Sanctuary Choir, Service Guild, Willing Workers Club and Pastor's Aid Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Claybourn, in May 1991; two sisters, Dorothy Green and Willie K. Smith; and two brothers, Elmore and Joe Pack. Survivors include a daughter, Ollie J. Harbison of Beckley; and four grandchildren, Rose Mary Williams of Church Road, Va., Beverly H. Patillo of Virginia Beach, Va., and Gloria L. Taggart and Willie L. Taggart, both of Beckley. Service will be noon Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 770 S. Fayette St., Beckley, with the Rev. Dr. David McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call one hour before service Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.
