Daisy M. Compton
MOSSY - Daisy May Cadle Compton, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a short illness. Born May 29, 1914, at Seth, Boone County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Mitchell and Allie Virginia Burgess Cadle. Mrs. Compton was a homemaker and attended Fairview Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oferall Emmett Compton, on January 24, 1968; two sons, Carl Frederick Compton in 1999 and Joe Vernon Compton in 1978. She was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include two sons, Charles Emmett Compton and wife, Tammy, of Kendallville, Ind., and Russell Lee Compton and wife, Nancy, of Mossy; daughter-in-law, Anna Lee Compton of Mossy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Betty Lusk and the Rev. Arolette Stover officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
MARIANNA - Madeline Hall Compton, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at her residence. Born July 12, 1934, at Pikeville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Richard and Martha Justice Hall. Mrs. Compton was a member of the Mill Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a resident of Wyoming County since 1950. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Compton; and three brothers, Robert, Walter, and John Hall. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Lonnie E. Compton; three sons, Lonnie Paul Compton and wife Rhonda of Marianna, Michael Dean Compton and wife Frankie of Glover, and Larry Gene Compton and wife Pam of Glover; one daughter, Paula Jean Compton Blankenship and husband Randy of Marianna; one sister, Bertha Mae Hall Walker of Glover; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Ritchie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Pallbearers will be Chris Vint, Randy Blankenship, Brandon Compton, Brian Walker, James Compton, and Lonnie M. Compton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville.
