Wade V Crews

Wade Virgil Crews, 72, of Blue Jay, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, following a long illness. Born Sept. 20, 1929, in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late James Crews and Minerva Rickman Crews. Mr. Crews was a former coal miner and a retired employee of Meador Concrete. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Daniels. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar, Lawrence, Charles and Carl Crews; and five sisters, Martha Lewis, Emma Lewis, Laura Crews, Bridgie Jones and Goldie Williams. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Goldie Maxine Cox Crews; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Orpha Crews of Daniels. Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Dennis Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Jay Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley.
