Gertrude D. Blankenship, 86, of 150 Autumn Lane, Beckley, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, in a Fayette County health care facility after a long illness. Born Oct. 21, 1914, in Johnson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lou Danial Daniels. Mrs. Blankenship was a retired LPN having worked at Beckley Hospital, was a member of the First United Method-ist Church, Beckley, where she was the teacher of the Jane Anderson Sunday School Class and was a member and past president of the United Me-thodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Blankenship, in 1974; a son, E. Fred Blankenship; and eight brothers and six sisters. Survivors include five daughters, Minnie Lou Chafin and her husband, Sam, of Barboursville, Barbara Bray and her husband, Donald E., of Springfield, Mo., Maysha McKinney and her husband, Don, of Terre Haute, Ind., Amy Burrow and her husband, W.O., of Myrtle, Miss., Van Blankenship Dawkins of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sons, Thomas D. Blankenship and wife, Barbara, of Marietta, Ga., and Robert R. Blankenship and wife, Linda, of Marion, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Blank-enship McLeod of Goodyear, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wed-nesday at the First United Methodist Church, 217 S. He-ber St., Beckley, with the Rev. Dr. Gregory L. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley, and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber St., Beckley, WV 25801.
