Benjamin H. Burnside, 72, of Rock Creek, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at his home as a result of a house fire. Born July 4, 1927, at Rock Creek, he was the son of the late Andrew and Betty Lemon Burnside. Mr. Burnside served in the armed forces and was retired from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources as a tower observer. Since his retirement, he was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Jarrell, Martha Wilfong and Dessie Peters; and two brothers, John H. Burnside and Quincy Burnside. Survivors include two brothers, Arley Burnside of Rock Creek and Reed Burnside of Uniontown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rebecca Chapel, Rock Creek, with the Rev. Robert Legg officiating. Burial will follow in McGinnis Cemetery, Rock Creek.
