Susie Ellen Campbell, 76, of Beckley, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born Nov. 17, 1922, at Grandview, she was the daughter of the late Harlow and Susie Gilkerson Ewing. Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker, a former employee of Beckley Manufacturing, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital and Southern West Virginia Clinic. She was a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Campbell; two brothers, Forrest and Bill Ewing; four sisters, Hannis Johnson, Myrtle Todd, Vergie Ewing and Zelia Whiting; and a grandchild, Shane Campbell. Survivors include a son, Gary Campbell and his wife, Bea, of Suffolk, Va.; three daughters, Donna Brown and her husband, Robert, of Beckley, Carolyn Richardson of Beckley and Kimberly Campbell, at home; two sisters, Nina Adkins of Cranberry and Laura Belle Shirkey of Beckley; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Phillip Lilly and Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gary Brown and Jamie Campbell and friends Jimmy Dale Pachuta, Sammy Suttle, Darrell Todd and Howard Miller.
