Mildred D. Cochran


ABNEY Mildred D. Cochran, 84, died at 2:20 a.m. March 3, 2001, at a Beckley area hospital following a long illness. Born Feb. 24, 1917, in Dothan, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Carrie Grigsby Coleman. Mrs. Cochran was a loving wife, mother and friend, caring for her family first, always, and showing her love for her Lord Jesus in song, poems, cooking, sewing, etc., and being a good example for her family. She was also an avid reader, loving her Bible studies and living by this. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church, Crab Orchard. She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil; a daughter, Phyllis; two granddaughters, Sandy and Christy; and an infant greatgranddaughter. Survivors include her kind and loving husband of more than 64 years, Alvin Cochran, who faithfully cared for her through the years during both her sickness and healthy days; four daughters, Gearldean McKeever of Riverview, Mich., Mrs. Billie (Shelvie) Bolen of Portsmouth, Va., Mrs. Fred (June) Hart of Coal City, and Mrs. Dennis (Fran) Dixon of Lexington, N.C.; a son, Dallas Cochran and wife, Martha, of Crab Orchard; a daughterinlaw, Mary Grace Coleman of Southfield, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, 26 greatgrandchildren and four greatgreatgrandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at WilliamsBlue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Sophia, with the Rev. Fred Hart Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
