Sharon Young Collins, 51, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Dec. 6, 1947, in Richwood, she was the daughter of Faye Clevenger Young of Holcomb and the late Mendarres Young. Mrs. Collins was a homemaker, an artisan and a member of Prosperity First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lundy. Other survivors include her husband, Jerry Collins; a son, Mark A. Collins of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Melvin Young of Akron, Ohio, and Randall Young of Holcomb; three sisters, Mary Kelly of Phoenix, Ariz., Olive Garrett of Glendale, Ariz., and Sue Garrett of Fenwick. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Prosperity First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Pritt officiating. Burial will follow in Clevenger Family Cemetery, Holcomb. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, and one hour before services Saturday at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
