RUPERT - Delmes Lee Collins, 61, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, in the Veterans Hospital in Beckley following a long illness. Born July 18, 1939, at Rainelle. He was the son of the late Marion and Mable Osborne Collins. Mr. Collins was a 1958 graduate of Rupert High School. He was of the Baptist faith, a disabled construction worker and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Rainelle VFW Post No. 4424 and a member of the American Legion in Lewisburg. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Stone Collins at home; a son, Timothy Collins of Huntington; a daughter, Tanya Collins of Huntington; two stepsons, Eric Stone of Hickory, N.C. and Max Stone of Charmco; three stepdaughters, Marsha Stone of Hickory, N.C., Diane Stone of Alderson and Gail McClung and husband, John, of Rupert; four grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robert Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. The service will conclude with the releasing of white doves. Friends may call one hour before the service Thursday at the funeral home.
