Harless Anderson Cook Sr., 67, of Hotchkiss, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, in a Richmond, Va., hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 28, 1931, in Hotchkiss, he was the son of the late James L. and Martha Bradbury Cook. Mr. Cook was a retired preparation plant foreman for Slab Fork Coal Co. He was a member of the Mullens Church of God and enjoyed woodworking. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a lifetime resident of Raleigh County. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Cook, Lloyd Cook, Paul Cook and James Lacy Cook Jr. Survivors include his wife, Jewell Marie Blevins Cook; three sons, Glen Lee Cook Sr. and his wife, Sandra, of Lost River, Harless Anderson Cook Jr. and his wife, Claudia, of Mallory, and Timothy Ray Cook and his wife, Debra, of Hotchkiss; and eight grandchildren, Jonathan Cook, Monetta Cook, Glen Cook Jr., Jesse Cook, Miranda Cook, Brandon Cook, Kevin Cook and Keith Cook. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. J.L. Riffe officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Donations of sympathy may be made to the Mullens Church of God, Mullens.
