Robert Lewis "Bob" Dickerson, 70, of Shady Spring, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 9, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. Born Jan. 16, 1931, at Corinne, he was the son of the late Samuel Aub-rey and Anne Frances Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson was retired from the Singer Sewing Company after 17 years of service and then founded and operated Raleigh Sewing Machine for 14 years. He was a member of Shady Spring First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, was a member of the Fellowship Class and had served on various committees. He was also a 32nd degree Mason; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and received the Good Conduct and the National Defense Service Medals. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Aubrey Junior and Saunders N. "Jack" Dickerson, both of Odd. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Peggy Jo Miller Dickerson and loving father of his surviving children; a daughter, Cynthia Marie Loving and her husband, Bill, of Franklin; two sons, Robert Frederick Dickerson and wife, Esther, of Salisbury, N.C., and Timothy Earl Dickerson and his wife, Colene, of Shady Spring; two grandsons, Robert Joseph Dickerson of Salisbury, N.C., and Benjamin Lewis Dickerson of Shady Spring; three granddaughters, Melisa Loving Pyka and husband, John, of Adelphi, Md., Jennifer Loving of Blacksburg, Va., and Rachel Dickerson of Salisbury, N.C.; a stepgranddaughter, Lela McGuire Brown and husband, Anthony, of Salisbury, N.C.; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Kassie Lynn, Ashley Breann and Michael Anthony, all of Salisbury, N.C.; three sisters, Dorothy Arlene Lilly of Daniels, Ruby Grace Castanon of Coal City and Margaret Ann Roach of Mullens; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Dickerson and Alice Dickerson, both of Odd; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shady Spring First Baptist Church with Pastor Delvin D. Elwell Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with the Air Force Honor Guard flag presentation. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Nephews and church family will serve as pallbearers.
