OCEANA - Lillian M. Elkins, 76, died Monday, March 12, 2001, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Feb. 1, 1925, in Oceana, she was the daughter of the late Kenner and Lily Francis Griffith. Mrs. Elkins was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a longtime member of Pentecostal House of Prayer. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sid Griffith; and a sister, Ella Mae Aliff. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ulvert A. Elkins; two daughters, Anna Smith and her husband, Junior, and Linda Lafferty and her husband, Randy, all of Oceana; three sons, J.D. Holmes of Ohio and Frank Elkins and his wife, Brenda, and Ernest Elkins, all of Oceana; two sisters, Mary Allen and her husband, Howard, of Lynco and Evangeline Lambert of Oceana; a brother, Garland Griffith and his wife, June, of Oceana; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pentecostal House of Prayer, Lynco, with the Revs. Firg Proffitt and Tommy White officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Oceana.
