COAL MOUNTAIN - Virgie Sue Hatfield, 57, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at her residence following a short illness. Born Dec. 24, 1943, in Guy-an, she was the daughter of Brookie Hatfield Walls of Davin and the late Wannie Cline. Mrs. Hatfield attended Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church and was a resident of Wyoming County all her life. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Sue Hatfield. Other survivors include her husband of 38 years, Hubert P. Hatfield; two sons, Kelly Paul Hatfield and David Keith Hatfield and his wife, Katie, of Coal Mountain; five brothers, Daniel Walls and his wife, Sue, and Lindell Walls and his wife, Barbara, all of Coal Mountain, Gregory Walls and his wife, Lisa, of Verner, Jana Walls and his wife, Patricia, of Irvin, N.C., and Ronald Walls and his wife, Janet, of Oceana; four sisters, Wilma Cales and her husband, Bobby, of Hinton, Kathy Russelle and her husband, Carl, of New Lennox, Ill., Janie Parton and her husband, Tommy, of Wise, Va., and Joyce Kennedy and her husband, Terry, of Davin; three half brothers, Danny Ray Cline of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., Rocky Cline of Oceana and Sammy Cline of North Carolina; a stepbrother, Tim Walls and his wife, Connie, of Coal Mountain; two half sisters, Glenna Faye Blankenship of Sun Hill and Karen Hatfield of Browning Fork; and two grandchildren, Kayla Noel Hatfield and Adam Keith Hatfield, both of Coal Mountain. Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Brothers will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Oceana.
