MOUNT HOPE - Shirley G. Humphrey, 72, of Maple Fork Road, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at his home following a sudden illness. Born April 16, 1929, at Pax, he was the son of the late Emmett G. and Emma Lafferty Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was retired from E.I. DuPont Company after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and The Plateau Club. He was also chairman of the Pax Reunion Committee for 15 years. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl Humphrey in 1965, Dove Humphrey in 1990, Harry Humphrey in 1976, Calvin Humphrey in 1980, and Claude Humphrey in 1994; and two sisters, Hila Boyd in 1949 and Vivian Trent in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Louise V. Marchio Humphrey of Maple Fork Road, Mount Hope; a brother, Reginald Humphrey of Baconton, Ga.; and three sisters, Marie Billups of Pax, Evelyn Morgan of Cleveland, Ohio, and Opal McCoubrey of Mount Hope. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Sam Vance and Minister Roy Seaux officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope. A prayer vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home by Father John McDonough.
