Morton Alexander "Alex" Johnson Jr., 50, of 103 Druid Ave., Beckley, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Oct. 6, 1948, at Beckley, he was the son of Margaret Bibb Johnson of Beckley and the late Morton A. "Ping" Johnson. Mr. Johnson was president and owner of Minex Corp. He was a member and elder of Beckley Presbyterian Church, a member of Beckley Elks Lodge, Black Knight Country Club and the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce. He was also active with Beckley Little League. He was a member and supporter of the Beckley-Raleigh County YMCA and a member and past head of the Raleigh County Republican Committee. Mr. Johnson attended Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Va., and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He also graduated from West Virginia University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the Army ROTC and served at Fort Knox, Ky. Survivors include his wife, Glenna Hamilton Johnson; two daughters, Katherine-Anne McLeod Johnson of Richmond, Va., and Bonney Love Johnson of Lancaster, Pa.; a son, Matthew Alexander Johnson of Beckley; a sister, Susan Johnson High and her husband, Gilbert P. Jr., of Philadelphia; and niece and nephews, Margaret Amanda High, Gilbert P. High III and his wife, Maureen D., and their son, Zachary David, and David Alexander High and his wife, Lori T. Friends may call noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Beckley Presbyterian Church, where services will follow with the Rev. Robin Debnam officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
