Richard Joseph, 79, of Dry Creek, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the VA Medical Center following a long illness. Born Feb. 8, 1922, at Jarolds Valley, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Rachael Miller Joseph. Mr. Joseph was a retired maintenance engineer, a member of the Marsh Fork Presbyterian Church, Dry Creek, the VFW Post No. 11307 of Bolt, and the Masonic Lodge at Whitesville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Joseph; a half brother, Clyde Shaffer; and a half sister, Eva McWhorter. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jarrell Joseph; two sons, Richard Wayne Joseph and his wife, Marcia, of Marshall, Va., and William George Joseph and his wife, Diane, of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Dr. Alfred Joseph and his wife, Lucille, of Atlanta, Ga., and Phillip Joseph and his wife, Suzanne, of Nipoma, Calif.; two grandsons, Robert Wayne Jo-seph and Joshua Wayne Joseph. Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with David Pettry CLP officiating. Burial will follow in Jarrell's Cemetery, Dry Creek. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of the VFW Post No. 11307 at Bolt.
