Keith D. Lucas, 47, of Glen Daniel, died Monday, July 23, 2001, in a mining accident. Born Oct. 11, 1953, in Dameron, he was the son of James Edward and Naoma Marshall Lucas of Dameron. Mr. Lucas was an employee of Baylor Mining, Jim Branch No. 3, at New Richmond and was a member of the UMWA. He served in the U.S. Army. Other survivors include his wife of 29 years, Diana Clark Lucas; a son, Anthony Keith Lucas and his wife, Ursula, of Glen Daniel; a granddaughter, Hailey Allison Lucas; three brothers, James Everett Lucas of Glen Daniel, Joseph Clinton Lucas of North Bloomfield, Ohio, and Kelly Edward Lucas of Sparta, N.C.; a sister, Lisa Louise Lucas of Rhode Island; four nieces, Candy Clark Settle, Katie Lucas, Kayla Lucas and Miranda Settle; 10 nephews, Jamie Lucas, Brian Keith Settle II, Paul Lucas, Roger Clark Jr., Chris Clark, Andrew Lucas, Joshua Clark, Aaron Keith Clark, Elijah Lucas and a special nephew, Phillip Clark. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. James E. Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at KDL Reservoir, Clay Pool Hollow, Glen Daniel. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Shane Kinzel, Brian Stover, Scott Birchfield, Tommy Powers, Chris Cook, Elmo Green, Chris Clark and Roger Clark Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
