DANESE The Rev. Virgil Lowell Martin, 71, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999. Born Jan. 28, 1928, at Danese, he was the son of the late Everett B. and Lola Bernice Fox Martin. The Rev. Martin was a lifelong resident of Danese and was also an ordained Baptist minister. He was lay speaker for the United Methodist Church, was ordained minister for the Free Will Baptist and was presently pastoring at Clifftop Community Church and Judson Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of B.M.W.E. Lodge 139 of Rainelle and was a retired track foreman for C&O Railway with 38 years of service. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Patton, and four brothers, Norman, Alvin, Stanley and Houston Martin. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Barnett Martin; one daughter, Frances J. Bennett of Danese; four sons, Clarence E. Martin of Danese, Daniel Martin of Layland, Gary Martin of Victor and Michael Martin of Danese; five sisters, Georgia Baxter of Tallahassee, Fla., Alverta Davis of Yucca Valley, Calif., Imogene Aliff of Orient, Ohio, Kathryn Parrish of Thurmont, Md., and Uldine Welch of Covington, Va.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Daniel Legg, the Rev. Thomas Shave, and the Rev. Allen Whitt officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace and Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Grandsons Clarence Martin II, Anthony Martin, Stephen Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Michael Martin II and Derrick Martin will serve as pallbearers.
