MADAMS CREEK - Ethel A. Meadows, 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital, Hinton, following a long illness. Born Feb. 13, 1941, in Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Hedmon May and Virginia Ayers May. Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker. She was a Madams Creek resident for the past three years. She was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlena Denise Minor; a brother, Jimmy Mitchem; a sister, Fredrica Blankenship; and her grandmother, Ethel Mitchem, who reared her. Survivors include her husband, Billy Joe Meadows; two sons, John L. Minor Jr. of Taylorsville, N.C., and Forest G. Minor of Eccles; a daughter, Elisa Sadler of Maiden, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Valorie Harrah of Madams Creek; a stepson, Vincent J. Meadows of Plainville, Conn.; five sisters, Carol Muovich of Charleston, Donna Godby of Eccles, Sondra Allen of Beckley, Charlene Thrasher of Virginia and Ardith Shumate of Maryland; a brother, Dizzy Mitchem of Korea; several grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Carl Sellards officiating. There will be no visitation.
