Teddy P. Meadows, 87, of Shady Spring, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, in a local hospital of natural causes. Born Sept. 14, 1911, at Beaver, he was the son of the late John C. and Vada Wood Meadows. Mr. Meadows was a retired outside electrician from Westmoreland Coal Co. and was a member of the Shady Spring First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, choir leader, and member of the Men's Fellowship of the church. Mr. Meadows was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County. Mr. Meadows was also a member of the UMWA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Walker Meadows; two brothers, Columbus and Paul Meadows; four sisters, Edna Harvey, Nadia Walker, Charity Turner, and Dalean Bahr. Survivors include his wife, Ruby E. Richmond Meadows of Shady Spring; three sons, Damon G. Meadows and his wife, Carol, of Joppa, Md., Jackie L. Meadows and his wife, Ellen, of Shady Spring, and the Rev. Michael Meadows and his wife, Martha, of Morgantown; one stepson, Jerry P. Richmond and his wife, Sandra, of Shady Spring; one stepdaughter, Louise Riffe Gates and her husband, L.A., of Ghent; one sister, Isabelle Hatcher and her husband, Argil, of Daniels; nine grandchildren, Joy Meadows of Joppa, Md., Beverly G. Whitely and her husband, Gene, of Indiana, Cynthia Kay Anderson and her husband, John, of Joppa, Md., Norman G. Meadows and his wife, Barbara, of Bel Air, Md., Marie Meadows of Abington, Md., Luke Meadows of Rock Creek, Gretta Beasley and her husband, Corey, of Galveston, Texas, Sarah Garner and her husband, Leon, of Georgia, and Nathaniel Meadows of Morgantown; five stepgrandchildren, Kellie Snyder and her husband, Wade, of Beaver, Scott Riffe and his wife, Angie, of Stanaford, John Riffe and his wife, Kara, of Pulaski, Va., Jeffrey Richmond and Phillip Richmond both of Morgantown; 13 great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. today from the Shady Spring First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Meadows and Pastor Delvin Elwell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends called 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and may call one hour before services today at the church. Norman Meadows, Scott Riffe, Wade Snyder, Wayne Farley, John Riffe and Jim Lowery will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Men's Fellowship of the Shady Spring First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
