Clara Eveline Milam, 80, of Prosperity, died Monday, May 11, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born April 3, 1919, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Deatie Treadway Arthur. Mrs. Milam was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Milam; a son, Sgt. Dale Milam; a brother, Fred Arthur; and a sister, Inez Massey. Survivors include six sons, Gary Milam and his wife, Joan, of Lampasas, Texas, Larry Milam and his wife, Lisa, of Columbia, S.C., Jimmy Milam and his wife, Patty, of Seminole, Fla., Robert Milam and his wife, Maggie, of Tacoma, Wash., Randall Milam and his wife, Regina, of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Harold Milam and his wife, Linda, of Prosperity; a daughter, Linda Sjurset and her husband, Lawrence, of Vale, N.C.; a brother, Robert Arthur of West Milford; three sisters, Mildred Milam of Prosperity, Irma Arthur of Clarksburg and Alice Ballard of Grandview; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Hobert Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
