Milford R. Cook, 74, of Stover, formerly of Naoma, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness. Born March 17, 1926, at Stickney, he was the son of Wavie (Richmond) Cook of Naoma and the late Herbert Cook. Mr. Cook was a retired miner with Armco, and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Aline Massey. Other survivors include his wife, Dora L. Cook of Stover; three sons, Lowell Cook of Rock Creek, Leonard Pettry and his wife, Tami, of Naoma, and Lyle Pettry of Naoma; a daughter, Schevon Rhodes of Lebanon, Va.; two sisters, Betty Cook and her husband, Bill, of Naoma, and Anna Mae Lucas and her husband, Bobby, of Beckley; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church, Sundial, with the Rev. Harless Peters Jr. of Naoma officiating. Burial will follow in U.S. Cook Cemetery at Pine Knob.
