Minnie Bernice Adams


Minnie Bernice Adams, 82, of Stotesbury, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, at Heartland of Beckley nursing facility following a long illness. Born March 11, 1918, in Eccles, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Ellen Price Arnett. Mrs. Adams worked as a supervisor at Doctors Hospital in Washington, D.C., for many years. She attended Mark Twain High School. She made her home in Washington for 20 years. She was a member of Mabscott Christian Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Adams; and two sisters, Stella Sanders and Florence Bowers. Survivors include her loving son and daughter, James Lewis Adams of Washington and Shelvia Carpenter and her husband, Wesley, of Coal City; eight grandchildren, Sheila Conti and her husband, Landon, of Greensboro, N.C., Sherri Smith and her husband, Charles, of Coal City, W. Dane Carpenter and his wife, Cynthia, of Manassas, Va., Scott Carpenter of Charlotte, N.C., Keith Carpenter of Reston, Va., Sandy Hudnall and her husband, Kevin, of Greensboro, James Adams Jr. and his wife, Suk, of Hyattsville, Md., and Anita Richbourg and her husband, Randy, of Florida; a sister, Albany Suiter of Silver Spring, Md.; and nine greatgrandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
