Mildred Pauline Morgan, 77, of Shady Spring, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, in Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born Dec. 7, 1923, at Pecks Mill, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Vannater Miller. Mrs. Morgan was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Stanaford. She was a 27-year resident of Shady Spring. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David E. Morgan; three sons, David J. Morgan and his wife, Bobbie, of Jasper, Ala., Edward L. Morgan and his wife, Berniadean, of Hickory, N.C., and Charles R. Morgan and his wife, Drema, of Valdese, N.C.; two daughters, Sue Upton and her husband, Ronnie, and Tamela McComas and her husband, John, all of Shady Spring; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Speaker Earl Shrewsbery officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill.
