Freddie A. Morris, 61, of Munsey Street, Allentown, Eccles, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at his home following a long illness. Born Sept. 30, 1939, in South Charleston, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle Elsie McGee Morris. Mr. Morris spent his childhood in South Charleston and has been a resident of Eccles since 1954. He was a construction worker, last working for McGraws Brothers Construction. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church of Eccles. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Lou Morris. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Anna Cook Morris; a daughter, Wanda Ann Morris of Eccles; a stepson, George David Morris of Beckley; a stepdaughter, Jo Lynn Heaton and husband, David, of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Gary D. Morris of Eccles and James A. Morris of Harper; a sister, Mary Lee Painter of Eccles; five grandchildren. Service will be 4 p.m. today in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Sam Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Morris, Gary Painter, Paul Cook, Paul Worley, Ed Stewart, and Michael Muovich. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
