HOUSTON - Frederick D. Morris, 59, of 2801 Broadmead, formerly of Slab Fork, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, in a Houston hospital following a long illness. Born May 25, 1940, at Slab Fork, he was the son of the late Nimrod and Evelyn Dickerson Morris. Mr. Morris was a Sickle Cell Foundation Community Outreach program director and a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Houston. He was founder and publisher of Elements Magazine. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Brown. Survivors include a brother, Nathaniel Morris and his wife, Dorothy, of Philadelphia; a sister, Katie Carter and her husband, David, of Lester; an aunt, Katie Berger of Beckley; and an uncle, Joseph Dickerson and his wife, Laura, of Detroit. Graveside rites and burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with the Rev. Billy Galloway officiating.
