George Massey Sr. George Massey Sr., 79, of 218 Friendly View Road, Dry Creek, died 5:30 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Feb. 8,1920, in Marfork, he was the son of the late Abrie and Della Sparks Massey. Mr. Massey was a retired coal minner and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Stillwell Stover Massey; one daughter,Shirley M. Cregeen of Dry Creek, a step daughter, Gracie Stover-Golden of Wichita, KS, and an adopted daughter, Amy Jo Ransom(d/o Randy Hodge and Shirley Massey) of Lester; a step-son, Herbert J. Stover, two sons:George Massey Jr. of El Dorado, Kan., and John D. Massey of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Anderson of St. Albans, and Jackie Plantz of Proctorville, Ohio; three brothers, Vernon Massey of Melrose, Fla., James Massey of Sylvester, and Maynard Daniels of Pikeville, Ky.; 20 grandchilldren, and 11 great-grandchildren. His step children, Herbert and Gracie Stover were the children of Herbert Stover and Betty Stilwell. Services willl be 3:30 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with the Rev. Carl "Tommy" Wingo officiating. Burial willl follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call 9 a.m. until time of the services today at the funeral home.
